At the moment I play two or three times a week in the summer. My family live just around the corner, and my two sisters and my brother all play there. My mum was pretty obsessed with Faldo so I became a huge fan of his. It's also hard not to admire Rory McIlroy. With seven victories in the last 13 months, the world No 1 has impressed everyone around the globe.
I admire his talent, demeanour, his honesty and the way he is helping others through the Rory Foundation. DD: I have a good feel around the greens. I think, because I started at such a young age, I got a good groove going in my short-game. DD: I suffer them, no doubt! A bit of practice before a round helps that, which we rarely do of course! DD: I had a hole-in-one on the second at Rhos-on-Sea. It was yards and I was 14 years of age, I hit a four-iron and just holed it.
Who has been your favourite so far? They are only people, after all. Everyone needs a Mandy. Max is eight in August and Bridget will be five in December. I never worked harder at the game than when I was terrible at it! Di is much better at being in the home environment.
I know we are probably not going to be getting on planes much and there is a very good chance that we could be covering golf from the studio for the rest of this season. It will be good for people to have live golf to watch. It always feels great to entertain people with live sport, whether it be the netball that Di does or the golf that I cover. From the England netballers to the LET golfers, all of the golf and sporting communities, there have been so many exercises and programmes that you can follow to keep the endorphins up and keep yourself going.
Sport has such an important role to play. And I'm lucky that I still get to work within the same industry. I still love to play, and I will always play, and who knows what might happen down the line. You should never say never, but my immediate future is decided and it's one without golf clubs in my hand in terms of playing competitive golf on the European Tour.
At least I signed off with a really fun week at the Home of Golf. It was nice to have Di up there with me, and I was very pleased with how I played. I should have made the cut, but it was ironic that my putting - the one part of my game that has been consistently good - let me down. My long game has been the big issue for me in recent years, but I actually hit the ball really well all week. But being realistic, with the little amount I've played this year, I was quite happy with how it went.
It was the ideal place for me to bow out, it's always been a special place for me and Di as we got married in St Andrews. I couldn't think of a better place to say farewell.
Watch the British Masters throughout the week live on Sky Sports 4 - your home of golf. Live first round coverage begins on Thursday from 9am.
